Fancy folders

Using Stampin' Around Wheels is a quick and effective way to smarten up plain manilla folders. You can coordinate all your office needs using the range of products and colours Stampin' Up offers.

Here I have used the So Swirly Jumbo Wheel. You can by Stampin Around uninked Cartridges and use reinkers to create the colours you like. Here I have used a retired ink cartridge in Hunter Green and used Rose Red refill to colour an uninked cartridge. I also added a touch of Champagne Mist Glitter Paint to add a touch of sparkle.

More Christmas cards

For these cards I used:

Stamps: Lovely as a Tree (large tree)
             Heard from the Heart (sentiment)

Ink: Old Olive and Real Red

 DSP Patterned paper: Old Olive

Card: Whisper White, Real Red

Embellishments: Brads: Real Red and Old Olive
                         Basic Pearls

Loads of Love Xmas card

You would think having time off work with a leg injury would allow for more cardmaking / scrapbooking, however it is surprisingly hard to do lying down with your foot elevated higher than your heart.
However I did manage to create this one.

I used masking techniques to create this card. The large tree from Lovely as a Tree stamp was stamped in Old Olive around the edge of Whisper White Card Stock and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. I masked the trees and stamped the truck from the Loads of Love stamp set. I water coloured the truck and used some of the words from the Loads of Love Christmas sentiment in Real Red. And mounting the Whisper White onto Real Red Card.
I like the framing of the trees around the card and want to try some different images in the centre.

A Christmas Card

I saw a similar card (link below) and loved the idea. I use Old Olive Ink and the large tree from the Lovely As A Tree stamp set to create the tree branches at the top of the card. I then created the baubles by using the Circle Circus stamp set and stamping in versa mark, using the Heat & Stick Powder to adhere the Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter onto Real Red Card Stock. I used the 1" and 3/4" circle punches to punch out the baubles.I used a retired set call Best Yet for the sayings.
The background trees were also dusted with Dazzling Diamonds to give that Christmas sparkle.

Water colour Roses

I wanted to play around with colour for these next two cards.

I embossed the rose from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set onto watercolour paper and then coloured each rose by picking up the ink from the lid of the ink pad with an Aqua Painter

I coloured this rose using Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait and Pear Pizzazz inks then mounted the rose on Old Olive Patterns DSP, and Old Olive Card Stock. The ribbon is Daffodil Delight 1/4" Gosgrain Ribbon and the greeting is from the Heard From the Heart stamp set.
I mounted the rose using Stampin Dimensionals.
The leaves were created by folding Old Olive Card Stock in half and then using the 1-3/8" x 5/8" Oval Punch to punch out a leaf shape. I kept the leaf in half and then created angled folds from along the length. (Running through a Crimper does the same thing even easier) unfold the leaf and use a Sponge Dauber to highlight the veins in Old Olive Ink. I attached using 2-Way Glue Pen then cut and curled a thin stripof Old Olive Card Stock for the vines.

This second card was created the same as above. The colours used were Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point and Old Olive Inks on the rose. I used Rich Razzleberry Patterned DSP and Old Olive 1/4" Gosgrain Ribbon. The bottom of the patterned paper was punched using the Eyelet Border Punch.

Fun and simple gift tags

I loved this simple idea using the For You Flower Stamp and the Fancy Flower Punch to create a tag for gifts when I saw it on Vikki's blog. I used Concord Crush ink for my tags and plan to create this tag in several colours so I have a selection on hand.

Circle Circus

I have been thinking about this stamp set for a while and wanted to try this idea out. I have used Concord Crush card stock and ink (one of the in colours) with the Circle Circus stamp set. I white embossed 3 of the images and punched them out using the scallop circle, 1" and 3/4" punches and attached them using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Sailing in the Bay of Islands

On Saturday I went out for an overnight sail with my dad and two young neices. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time. The girls loved the trip although they were impatient to arrive at the beach so they could go  for a swim.

Heading out around the Bay.

Checking our heading

Paddling in the bay we  anchored at for the night.

Looking out from the shore.

A beautiful sunset.

The serentity of the bay is shattered by a pirate duel.

A good breeze on the way back.

Elegant Medallion

I love the Soft Suede colour with this design. I used the Very Vintage jumbo wheel  with Soft Suede ink on the paper under the ribbon and inked the edges of the scallop oval before finishing off with a pearl. The sentiments are from the Upsy Daisy stamp set .
The Medallion Stamp is a large single stamp and is a beautiful and versatile stamp.
